Hello from Georgetown University! Though I know you are very busyright now between all your college applications, standardized tests, and actually spending time with friends in high school, I'd like tointroduce some aspects of Georgetown to you, and to tell you why, as afellow Tennessean, I love it here.

When I was applying for college, I was concerned most with theacademic program and the atmosphere I'd be living in for four years. While I was certain Georgetown's vast resources of an incrediblefaculty for each of its outstanding four schools, understanding andtalented deans, and extensive course possibilities would challenge andstimulate my intellect, it wasn't until I actually arrived on campusthat I knew I had found my home. The Georgetown campus is in anincredible location, with monuments, museums, and the Kennedy Centerwithin walking distance. A couple of metro stops are nearby, allowingeasy access to the National Zoo, downtown DC, and Capitol Hill. Two,three blocks down from the edge of campus is M Street, which is filledwith shops and restaurants with the flair and tastes from all cornersof the world. This vivid city life will serve to fill your weekendsand offers an infinite amount of opportunities. Just in my freshmanyear, I attended inauguration, witnessed two different demonstrations, met Madeleine Albright, and attended an incredible cello performanceby Hannah Chang. This past year, I was able to attend numerousGeorgetown basketball games, and see the lead five in various cornerson campus all the time. I'm sure you'll find just as many interestingthings to do, too!

While the hustle and bustle of the city will serve for fun-filledweekends, the Potomac serves as a serene separator of this city lifewith the actual Georgetown campus, allowing the campus to develop acozy and protected atmosphere. This was very important for me, ascoming from Chattanooga, the ability to come back home to a safe andquiet residence was imperative for my studies. In addition, Georgetownoffers a variety of clubs bound to satisfy your needs. From politicalgroups such as the Georgetown Democrats and Georgetown Republicans, tocultural clubs such as Chinese Student Allicance, Korean StudentAssociation, Carribean Cultural Circle, and the Hawaiian Club, toperformance groups such as Ritmo Y Sabor, the Chimes, Groove Theory, and GU Step Team, the possibilities are endless. There are alsonumerous volunteering opportunities on campus, including fraternities, tutoring, and Sursum Corda. I know as fellow Tennesseans, volunteeringis a big concern; Georgetown certainly provides us numerous chances.

I know that this is a very busy time for you, and that making such abig decision is very hard, but it's a decision that requires seriousconsideration. It's hard to find such a university as Georgetown, witha great location, great resources, and a great atmosphere all in oneplace. If you have any questions, about Georgetown or the collegeapplication process in general, please feel free to contact me! :)

Hi! How exciting this time must be for you! I remember exploring colleges during my high school career, and to me, many things about many different schools seemed intriguing. It's interesting to recall the time that I knew so little about Georgetown. Now I feel that I have experienced so much that it has to offer.

Coming from Tennessee, I felt a little intimidated about coming to a university "up North" and in the city. Georgetown and Washington, D.C. are certainly very different from my rural hometown, but I love the new experience. Since I've been here, I've mastered the ins and outs of the subway system, listened to a lecture by New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, and learned a new way of speaking (the word "supper" is nonexistent), among many other things. I've come into contact with students not only from states very different from my own, but from countries different from the U.S. It's been a great learning experience both inside and outside the classroom.

I could go on forever about how amazing Georgetown is, but I hesitate to do so for fear of sounding like the university's website or pamphlet you may have received in the mail. I encourage you to contact me for any query you may have. My ultimate college decision was hard to make, as yours may be, but I know that I chose the right university for me. I hope that you do too, and again, please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!
