Hey there fellow New Mexicans! My name is Christina and I'm a senior in the Georgetown College, majoring in computer science and government. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and attended La Cueva High School. So, why travel 3000 miles to attend Georgetown? I chose Georgetown because of its location. Washington, DC is amazing; it has so much to offer. The opportunities and experiences that you get here are unlike many others - we only have one national capital! Where else can you get internships working for pretty much any department of the federal government? And let's not forget all of the monuments! The tourist attractions here in DC are so different from anything in New Mexico, and it's always fun to go visit them. Now there aren't a lot of New Mexicans here at Georgetown, but that only makes you unique! It has been great getting to meet people from all over the country, and even the world. This has surely broadened my horizons and taught me more about the world than any class ever could. This is definitely something you won't find at an in-state school. Georgetown also has much to offer in extracurricular activities. There is a club or organization for almost anything which interests you! There are top-notch professors who are always willing to help (honestly - they love when you come to office hours!), a Jesuit identity that never pushes a religion on you (I myself am not a Catholic), an historic neighborhood right outside the front gates, and an incomparable city just down the road. These are just some of the reasons that you should come to Georgetown. I guarantee that once you're here, you'll find more reasons to stay!! Please email me with any questions you might have about living here, the academics, the social life, anything!! I promise to answer them honestly and would love to hear from all you! Hoya Saxa!
