Hi fellow New Jerseyians! My name is Alicia Chin and I am a junior in the Georgetown College. I am majoring in Government and minoring in Environmental Studies. I am from Warren, NJ and graduated from The Pingry School in Martinsville. As you go through the college process, picking a college will be very tough. I had a hard time choosing between schools, but deciding to go to Georgetown was definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made! Georgetown is such an amazing place. The environment of Georgetown encourages and makes it easy for students to get involved in the numerous clubs, attend performances, and listen to prestigious speakers. The academics are challenging and interesting. The possibilities of what one can do here are endless. I especially love the location of the campus. It is not directly in the heart of the city, but the Georgetown area is great for shopping and finding a good meal. When you want to explore the rest DC, you can take the metro or walk to the monuments and museums. I’m really into music, so it’s great to have the 9:30 Club nearby, as well as the Kennedy Center. The location of the campus gives a small campus feel, which fosters a great sense of community, with all the perks of the big city! The community here is diverse, open, and nurturing. You will definitely grow as a person here, and have all the opportunities to fulfill all your goals. I promise you that at Georgetown you will have an amazing time making great friends, having interesting professors, going to the basketball games, meeting students from all over the world, and taking advantage of all the wonderful opportunities available at Georgetown! If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email me! I look forward to talking to you and hopefully seeing you here at G-town!! Hoya Saxa!!!

HOMETOWN: Glen Ridge, NJ

HIGH SCHOOL: Montclair Kimberley Academy

ACTIVITIES: Dahlgren Underground and GAAP

Hi! My name is Tesia Ciechanowski and I am currently a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences. I am pre-med, but majoring in French with a business minor. I grew up in Glen Ridge, a small town fifteen miles west of Manhattan, and graduated from the Montclair Kimberley Academy.

Georgetown is a wonderful place; after visiting April of my junior year of high school, I knew that I absolutely had to go here. Even though we are just a short metro ride away from the heart of DC, the campus itself is located in a beautiful neighborhood, with many great places to eat, shop, and hang out just minutes outside the main gates. On campus, there are many activities you can get involved in; for example, I sing in the 8 p.m. mass choir and volunteer for GAAP. You can also find great jobs and internships in DC. This past year, I started working at Georgetown University Hospital, to gain some experience in the field of medicine before applying to medical school. Another reason why I love Georgetown so much is because of the people. I have never interacted with such a diverse group of students, and every day I meet new people, people from different areas of the country, with different experiences and various interests. Georgetown is also known for academics, and I must say, I have been very happy with the courses I've taken the past five semesters.

I have had an amazing time at Georgetown and I cannot wait for my last two years on the hilltop. The people, the academics, life outside the classroom… I could not ask for anything better, and I know that all of my friends agree. If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to e-mail me: tec23@georgetown.edu... Hoya Saxa!

Hello! My name is Roshan Vora and my hometown is Wayne, New Jersey. I graduated from Wayne Valley High School and am currently a freshman at Georgetown University, specifically in the McDonough School of Business. I have a long way to go before I declare a major but for now I am an International Business / Finance major with a minor in Chinese. I've always enjoyed being involved in many things, back home I was the president or a board member of many of the school's clubs, such as Model UN and the school newspaper. The moment I entered Georgetown I realized that the university as well as the city offer way too many opportunities I couldn't wait to experience. This year I became involved in the Georgetown Colligate Investors, the Astronomy Club, the Crew Team, Hoya Blue, and International Relations Club.

Georgetown offers everything. From the small campus feel to the big city atmosphere, I enjoy every minute I spend here and I am sure that you will too. Being in Washington D.C. we are allotted so many opportunities. We have amazing speakers every week and our professors are some of the best in the world. SCHOOL: School of Foreign Service (SFS)

YEAR: 2011

MAJOR: International Politics

MINOR: Arab Studies

HOMETOWN: Princeton, NJ

HIGH SCHOOL: Princeton High School

ACTIVITIES: Club Ultimate Frisbee, Georgetown Students for Barack Obama, Sigma Phi Epsilon

Hi, my name is Jeffrey Wray, and I am currently a freshman in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown. I am from Princeton, NJ, where I graduated from Princeton High School in 2007. I chose Georgetown University because I have been interested in international relations and foreign service for years, and I am planning on majoring in international politics. However, once I arrived at Georgetown, I knew I made the right decision not just because of the incredible educational atmosphere, but because of everything else that Georgetown has to offer. First, there is an amazingly diverse variety of activities in which you can participate. I am currently a member of the club Ultimate Frisbee team, part of the Georgetown Students for Barack Obama organization, a brother in Sigma Phi Epsilon, and I work part-time at the Georgetown Running Company. There are countless other activities to suit every interest; with political organizations, a cappella and dance groups, mock trial, intramural sports, several school newspapers, and much more, it's hard not to find an extra-curricular activity that you will love.

Beyond the university, Georgetown is a fantastic place to live and learn because of the location. In the nation's capital there is always a museum or monument to visit, and there are tons of great restaurants and take-out places within walking distance from campus. For special occasions or whenever you want to explore beyond cafeteria food, Italian, Thai, Indian, American, seafood, and much more are just a few blocks away on M Street. Outside of its excellent cuisine, Georgetown hosts many great political and international speakers; early in October, Governor of New Mexico and 2008 presidential hopeful Bill Richardson was on campus discussing the war in Iraq. However, what I believe to be Georgetown's greatest assets are the other students who you will meet during your years here. The diverse student body, including many international students, gives you an opportunity to interact with your peers from around the world who have fascinating experiences to share. And everyone on campus is incredibly nice and absolutely loves being here just as much as you will.

I hope you decide that Georgetown University is the place for you; I know that it is for me. Please e-mail me with any questions, concerns, or if you just want to talk and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Oh, and make sure to watch our basketball games this year, you will want to be watching when we take home our second national championship. Hoya Saxa!

HOMETOWN: Piscataway, NJ

HIGH SCHOOL: Rutgers Preparatory School

Hello prospective Hoyas! My name is Nichole Gray, a Jersey native. I live close to Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ and graduated from Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, NJ. Currently, I am a senior in the McDonough School of Business with a double major in Finance and International Business. Although I consider myself a full-fledged Hoya, I am a transfer student that came in my sophomore year. In doing so, I have had the chance to see campus life at a different school and can truly attest to the superior quality and quantity of opportunities and resources that Georgetown provides to its students.

As a senior I couldn't have asked for more from my time spent at Georgetown. Through my studies I have had the privilege to learn from outstanding professionals in numerous fields and to work with incredibly bright and motivated students. Beyond academics, Georgetown has many programs devoted to supporting their students in every aspect, whether with religious, academic, career counseling, artistic expression or physical training. While I was initially attracted to Georgetown for its academic programs and reputation, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Georgetown has a lot of opportunities to help students develop themselves in arenas other than academics. For example there are a multitude of student organizations and other extra-curricular programs that help students build leadership skills, work with other students and gain hands-on experience in any field of their interest. Finally, there are amazing study abroad programs that allow students to truly immerse themselves in another culture.

Overall, I have to say that Georgetown is the total package and making the move to Georgetown was the best choice I've made. If you have any questions, please let me know. Best of luck!
