Hey guys! My name is Ridge Blanchard, and I am a freshman here at Georgetown. As of now, I am pursuing a Government major and French minor in the College. Before coming to Georgetown, I lived in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, a small town right outside of Lafayette and about an hour away from Baton Rouge. That said, coming from a small town in Louisiana to such a big city here in D.C., my transition to Georgetown was a very interesting experience but a great one nonetheless. Put simply, Georgetown has so much to offer to its students that it was hard to turn it down. From academics to extracurriculars, there is always something going on at Georgetown. Granted, it is very different from Louisiana, but in no time, Georgetown became my second home. In the classroom, I feel challenged and invigorated. The professors here are of the highest caliber, and the course material is interesting, no matter what class you take. Sure, it gets stressful at times, but campus is always upbeat and tends to hold a "work hard, play hard" attitude. Being in D.C., there is always and adventure waiting. From Saturday trips to the monuments to Sunday brunch at the Tombs, there are plenty of options available to all students. With the metro just a few blocks away, it is very easy to get around the bigger parts of the city. The Georgetown neighborhood in general is a great place to live. The residence halls may be very different than what you are used to living in, but, trust me, they are so much fun. It's all part of the college experience that I know you will come to love here on the hilltop! Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or concerns you may have. I would be glad to help. Hoya Saxa!
