Hi, my name is Laura Matthews and I'm from Chicago, IL. I am a graduate of Loyola Academy and am currently a senior biology major in Georgetown College. I have been involved in several campus organizations, including GERMS (the campus EMS service) and outdoor education. Georgetown has already become a second home to me; I couldn't imagine attending college anywhere else. From inspiring discussions with professors and classmates to classes taught by Jesuits, the intellectual life here at Georgetown is constantly stimulating. There are so many campus clubs and organizations to choose from that no matter where your interests lie, you are sure to meet people with similar passions. The surrounding Georgetown area, as well as greater Washington, DC, is full of restaurants, museums, breathtaking views, and cultural opportunities. You will never be bored here at Georgetown! Please feel free to e-mail me at lrm29@georgetown.edu with any questions you may have. Hoya Saxa!

Hi! My name is Jennifer Zhu and my hometown is Downers Grove, IL. I graduated from Downers Grove North High School and am currently a freshman at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. As of right now, I am a possible International Economics major aspiring to pursue a International Business Diplomacy certificate, but I haven't decided for sure. I've always enjoyed being involved in many things and the moment I entered Georgetown I realized that the university as well as the city offer way too many opportunities I couldn't wait to experience. Since I have been at Georgetown, I have gotten involved with the Chinese Student Association, Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Sorority, and tutoring ESL to new immigrants through the DC Schools Project. However, it is important to mention that there is a great variety of clubs and organizations in which you can get involved; there is a great possibility you will find many that pair along with your own interests. I have also been very fortunate to find two part-time jobs since arriving on campus. I work for both Energy Solutions Center, in the city, and for a Georgetown Economics professor right on campus.

I promise Georgetown is the place to be. Here you can find a beautiful campus and town, while being fairly close to a great city with many things to do, from going to the museums or monuments to experimenting new restaurants. Besides, another great appeal of studying in the capital of the United States is the opportunity to see and hear many important guest speakers here on campus. However, I have to admit that what I love the most about being at Georgetown is the sense of community on campus along with the bustling city life right outside the front gates. Personally, many of the friendships I have formed here are from many different places around the world. Having been able to learn through them about their different cultures and beliefs has been an extremely rewarding experience. Most importantly, no matter how different our background is, I have been able to create strong bonds with people I would not have otherwise met. Some of them seriously have never seen snow before in their lives! Coming from Chicago, needless to say, I adjusted to the weather a lot better than others did! I hope to hear from you soon as I try to answer any question you might have, do not hesitate to email me even if you just want to chat! Good luck and HOYA SAXA!
