Hi, my name is Correy Kamin and I am a senior in the McDonough School ofBusiness. I live in Greenwich, CT, a suburban town about forty minutesoutside of Manhattan, which provides me with the best of both worlds—thequaint beauty of a New England town and the bustling excitement of a bigcity. Georgetown has afforded me a similar balance, though in an evenmore comprehensive way.

In addition to the opportunities available in the nation's capital andthe fun shops and restaurants in Georgetown, there are also manyadvantages available on the campus itself. There has never beenanything I could think to do that was not available to me here. Yourtime at on the Hilltop can be whatever you want it to be. Other thanbeing involved with GAAP, I was on the executive committee thatorganized the first annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life eventon the Georgetown campus, I have taught DC students about variousbusiness concepts through my involvement in Junior Achievement, and I amthe Executive Vice President of Georgetown's chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi,a nationally acclaimed professional business fraternity.

Despite my busy schedule though, I have never had trouble making time tohave fun. It's all about balance here at Georgetown. We have the bestof everything and we certainly know how to maintain a sense of poisebetween working hard and playing hard. If you have any questions, feelfree to e-mail me. I look forward to talking to you and I hope to seeyou on the Hilltop!

Hello fellow Connecticut residents. My name is Dan Raccuia, and I'm the GAAP state chair for Connecticut. I'm a senior in the College and I'm a double major, studying History and English. I lived in Orange for my entire live until moving to Woodbridge last summer, and I am a 2004 graduate of Fairfield Prep. Coming from a Jesuit high school, I felt that adjusting to life at Georgetown would be somewhat easy, but I was curious to see what living in Washington would be like after spending eighteen years in a small suburban town. I quickly discovered that Georgetown's unique location within Washington offers the benefits of a large city, while at the same time retaining the feel of a true campus community and college town. Georgetown has an enclosed campus, so unlike other urban schools, students don't have to cross busy city streets to get to different university buildings, and there is an intimate feel to the school. The Georgetown neighborhood is full of great restaurants and is a popular shopping destination and it also boasts many old homes and townhouses. The neighborhood gives students the feel of both a small college town and a large city. If you've spent any time in New York your ability to cross the street with or without the walk sign will impress some of your new friends, but at the same time, many of Georgetown's streets are quiet and peaceful. With downtown Washington a short Metro (subway) ride away, you will be able to enjoy the "real" city as well. I found that Georgetown offers the perfect mix of campus and city life, and it was very easy for me to adjust to my new surroundings. Feel free to email me at djr25@georgetown.edu with any questions you may have. I hope to see many Connecticut students in next year's freshman class.

Since I was in your position as a prospective student only a short year ago, I can remember exactly what it feels like. I know what thoughts are rushing through your head as you try to make “the most important decision of your life” so far. After attending the February Open House weekend last year, I knew that I wanted to be involved in GAAP and that I would love to be a student here. There were so many wonderful activities and opportunities that attracted me to Georgetown, and I wanted to make sure that prospective students got the chance to see everything about this school that had made me want to come here.

I decided to get involved with GAAP as soon as I made my decision to attend Georgetown. The choice to come to become a hoya was not particularly difficult for me, but I know that choosing a school can be hard for many high school seniors. I do not regret a single minute of my time on the Hilltop and I want to share that experience with other students who aren’t yet sure that this is the place for them - because I know that it could be. At the beginning of last year, I answered emails from prospective students that attended my own high school. Over the holiday break, I hosted an Early Action accepted students’ reception at my house. There was a wonderful turn-out and we had a great time. During one Open House weekend last spring, two of the girls I met at that reception arranged to stay with me on-campus and experience a little more of what Georgetown is really like.

I cannot emphasize enough how committed I am to my position as State Chair. My friends make fun of me for just how much I love Connecticut and it would be an honor for me to help other students and fellow Connecticut residents to make Georgetown University their new home!
